Purpose of the job

The role is in charge of Niko’s manufacturing activities, leading strategic execution and coordinating resources to deliver excellent products.

The role plans, organises and monitors all processes and activities related to the manufacturing and procurement processes of the Niko Group, in order to ensure the optimal allocation of manufacturing resources and related output in line with the business and operating plans of the company.

The role reports to the CEO.

The role manages following teams : Production, Supply Chain, Procurement and Operational Excellence. The role has 4 direct reports and +/- 250 indirects.


Niko has a tradition of high class manufacturing since more than 100 years.

A particular challenge for the role is to be able to bring our manufacturing capability to the next level (‘Industry 4.0”) so that we can continue to ensure a competitive, world class manufacturing operation over the next decades. This will have to be done by a combination of process improvements, visionary leadership combined with an effective implementation of plans and goals, and close cooperation with R&D, PM and Sales so that manufacturing can effectively contribute to our innovation agenda.


The ideal candidate

  • has extensive and proven, preferably international, experience (20 years +) in leading complex manufacturing organisations, overseeing engineering, production, procurement, planning, warehousing and logistics, operating 24/7.
  • is familiar with manufacturing systems such as Lean, QRM, 6Sigma and others, and has proven experience with implementing these successfully on the ground.
  • is able to function as a team player within the Exco, has strong interpersonal and communication skills, and is a people oriented manager who sets demanding goals for his staff, whilst taking care of their professional development.
  • has made his mark elsewhere and doesn’t need Niko to build his career, however is eager to help bring Niko manufacturing to the next level.
  • Combines well developed analytical skills with the ability to cope with stress and deadlines and a drive for results and consistency with a long term strategy.
  • Fluency in Dutch and a cultural fit with Niko’s values are key.
  • Other relevant skills :
    • Strategic thinking : must be comfortable with making crucial decisions in high-pressure situations, choosing next course of action based on critical thinking and holistic analysis
    • Project management : ability to oversee multiple projects that are large in scope.
    • Production Expertise : extremely knowledgeable about production in our industry, from systems and techniques to compliance standards
    • Attention to detail : ability to be alert for details that can have a significant impact
    • Communication skills : the role requires multiple interactions with lots of stakeholders at different levels in and outside the organization.
